THE HUNT

This is the big buck story,  I was supposed to go hunt hogs at my uncle bub's (Doc's brother) and he put me in a stand for hogs, not big bucks.

I had a video camera and a big 10 point stepped out, I talked myself out of shooting it, but captured him on video. When I got back and showed everybody, my uncle bub said if I see another one like it shoot it. I said ok.

That evening I went out to a stand in the very back (uncle bubs stand for big bucks, but he never saw any) and about 4:15 pm a Javelina stepped out so I shot him. I got out of stand and put him in the middle of the road so I could pick him up when I was done hunting, since it was so early.

About 30minutes later a doe stepped out and looked behind her. Then a monster buck stepped in the road, I got my 300 DGS (Doc's Gun Shop) or Jarret and put it on him, and was about to pull the trigger when he started to trot into the thick mesquite, so I let one fly right as his head went into the brush. I pick up a good blood trail and found 2 pie plate size spots of blood with half dollar sizes of lung's in it. Then the blood trail stopped, we looked for about 5 hrs and nothing. So I got up the next morning and went to look for him. We picked up a little blood here and there, but still nothing.

My uncle came and said we had to leave in about 30 minutes and my heart dropped. And just as my uncle was getting in the truck to leave, my cousins husband spotted him. And the rest is history. If it had not been for the 300 DGS, I would not be telling this story!
